Albino and what????

alkee42 Nov 11, 2003 05:15 PM

This is my male that is supposed to be albino but has lots of darks and bright yellows as well as a good amount of orange on his tail. He does have red pupils like albinos but seems brighter than any I've seen. Any ideas what he could be mixed with or is he just a normal albino? This pic is right before a shed so he is accually brighter than this.

It is common for this line of Albino to look like that. They are known as Trempers, unless u bought it as Bell Albino.

Accually I rescued him from Petco, so I dont know the strain.

Most likely a tremper then.

I agree with Preston, it looks like a tremper albino to me too. He does seem to have quite a bit of pretty yellow mixed in the brown/lavender spots; he could have been the end result of out breeding a high yellow to albino. Anyhow, very nice albino, he looks happy on his rock.

P.S. I have read that petco gets tremper albinos, almost exclusively, maybe someone else can back me up on this….

I have heard that as well from the breeder I got my female from.

yeah I heard that too. Maybe Gourmet Rodents (petco supplier)only has Trempers..? I know that my Petco albino is a Tremper.

Petco gets all their leos from Gourmet Rodent. To my knowledge Gourmet Rodent only breeds Trempers.
