tegu eating own poop

blue_tegu Nov 11, 2003 05:39 PM

anyone ever see their tegu eat its own poop? mine seems to have developed a habit of it. is this normal? i remember my iguana used to do it too, something about it being natural and way for them to acquire certain bacteria. should i let her keep doing it and is it normal?

No you should not let himeat his on fiecies. That is a easy way for him to get Hook worm or other parisites . Thanks Russ

Mine hasn't done this yet (in front of me), but I had a water dragon that did it a couple of times. I agree, you should not allow him to do it but I have been told that it is a natural thing, especially if they are very hungry.
