Looking to purchase another bp

gossling8 Nov 11, 2003 07:25 PM

Hi, we have one bp right now. I would like to get another one for my son for christmas. The one that we have right now is about 6 mo. old. Do we need to house them seperate for a while or if they are both females is it ok to house them together. We haven't had the first one sexed yet, is it too late to have that done easily? My second question is where to buy one beside the pet store. I live in Aberdeen WA. I know there is a guy in Ocean Shores that breeds and sells them but lost his number. Does anyone on here know him. Last name is Lily or Lilly. Thanks in advance.

I'll try to help out. Although some do keep more than one BP together when not breeding, many will agree it is best to keep separate so that you don't risk transferring any illnesses/diseases. It may also stress them out having to compete for food, space, etc. If you do decide to house together, you might want to quarantine the new one for at least 30 days to make sure it is healthy, etc. It is not too late to have your snake probed - I don't know that it is ever too late? You can find breeders online, but it's always fun to go to reptile shows (if there are any in your area).

Hope this helps!

thankyou very much for the info. I was wondering if that pic was of your snake and was that a live plant and what kind and how it works in your tank.

Yep, that's my little guy. It is a plastic plant with a suction cup to keep it on the wall of the tank. I bought a few of these at a petstore to cover the back wall. My BP is still a little thing so it loves to get up in the plants to climb and just hang out sometimes.
