Another Ecko Update

Heather Nov 12, 2003 06:25 AM

Well, Last night Ecko was all cloudy. He's getting ready to shed!! TO me, this means He's healthy and growing. He still keeps His eyes closed a lot of the time. I've been trying to switch Him over to crickets and off of waxies... It's difficult but I think He's eatten a couple of them... He has absolutly No interest in mealies..... Anything else I might offer him? Thanks for your help guys!!

Glad to hear he's doing well. I'd recommend a little tough love, cut back on waxies (1 every 2-3 days at first) this way he won't be able to "fill up" on them. When offering crickets, you can try removing the hoppers and antennae. Remove any uneated crickets after 15 min to 1/2 hr so they don't annoy him. Once he starts eating crickets stop offering the waxies. It's often a bit of a tough sell to get young juvies onto mealworms (they like more movement), but you can still place a small bowl with a few in his cage. You can place his calcium / vitamin powder in his mealie bowl. When he goes to get his calcium, he may discover the mealies.

Hope this helps,
Alice
