Anyone have a favorite bloodline of Axanthics?

AshleyM May 31, 2003 12:20 AM

Even though I haven't got the budget for an axanthic or a het anxanthic right now, there's nothing better than plotting for the future! So I ask: do you have a "preferred" bloodline of axanthics? VPI? Joliff? Snake Keeper? Does any line keep their bright baby color better than another? (Some of the adult axanthics I see seem to have developed more brown as they got older.) Anyone have any input?

At this time I have a SK line male. Just bred him to a het axanthic. Have eggs.
I also have 2 66% possible het males for the VPI line. And a double het for snow male VPI line.
And I have 4 males 25% possible double het for snow Jolliff.
Maybe in three years I will be able to tell you !!!!

I love my axanthic male SK line. Mine seems to get better looking as it is getting older. It was 2000 hatchling.

I have a SnakeKeeper line het pair. The babies are amazing, and look like a black and white newspaper photo.

I'm working with the VPI lineage, and I can honestly tell you that I was blown away when I first set eyes on an axanthic hatchling last year. I'd never appreciated just how impressive and beautiful a black/silver/white creature could be. I also have possible het. Joliff animals that I hope will produce in the future. I've heard good things about SK line as well.

All the Axanthics are gorgeous, but I would have to say my favorite is the Jolliff. I think that line is going to look the best in double het projects, but we'll just have to wait and see-Bruce
