Hello. I`m living in Japan, and I got a few months ago a little RES hatchling.
He`s set up in a nice big tank, with some little feeder fish and some plants...
Well the fish went ahead and came down with ich (a parasite), and I`m treating them with malachite green. I read on one website the malachite green can also be used to treat fungus on RES, but I wasn`t sure if a safe level for treating the fish might be a toxic level for poor Lloyd... so he was moved into his original tiny home for the week, until the fish are better.

So I guess I have two questions: Are safe levels of malachite green for fish, also safe levels for RES hatchlings?
And, after the treatment is over, should I replace the plants in the tank? I worry that they might absorb the malachite green, and it might be toxic for him to ingest...

I`ve never kept fish or water turtles before. My only experience with reps is iguanas and desert tortoises. So I keep finding all these `fish-tank` type issues rather boggling. Thanks!
