My Lil BD has taken quickly to some branches I placed into the tank .. (bleached and cooked).. But I noticed lately that it is the only place he prefers to be in the tank and won't go to his basking rock unless I place him there.. He even sleeps on the top of the branches near the top of the tank.

I don't want to place the branches next to the heat source because I feel he'll cook himself since I get 105-110 on the bottom surface of the tank already.

Any suggestions on how to make him go to the basking spot more often ??

shouldn't it be 105-110 at the high basking spot, and about 90-95 at the bottom (ambient) of the hot area?

Get a lower wattage bulb and put it over the branches so that the temp is 100-110 in the basking spot.
