I'd like to give my temporary friend(babysitting)a variety of
food, could you tell me what your little guys LOVE to have as
food and treats.Right now He's getting getting his juvinile
iguana food, as well romaine lettuce with grapes, strawberries,
carrots and a sprinkle of calcium.
What other treats do these guys love? mangos? Bananas? other
veggies??
Also, what is the best way to get him used to me? He's a bit
skittish around most people who aren't his owner.

thanks
Chargo

It seems that you are not feeding the proper diet at all...most commercial foods contain too much protein to be any good for the igs...romaine lettuce has no nutritional value whatsoever...try a variety of leafy greens like collard, mustard, dandelion, chicory, with mixed veggies like green beans, squash, etc with minimal fruit like mango, apple...75 percent of the diet should be the leafy greens 20 percent veggies and 5 percent fruit...Mine do not get any fruit at all, but I give a slice of wheat bread every other week or so for a "snack" ...good luck...Lyn

Tempest loves kale and dandelion greens, as well as carrots, snow peas, green beans and acorn squash. Pretty much any of these foods he will pick out of a plate and eat first. He will eat grapes and now bananas occasionally, but he's not much of a fruit eater at all. I still mix in lots of collard greens and other veggies like broccoli and bell pepper, but he tends to leave those if he's full, where he'll always clean up the others.

I agree with what the other poster said, get rid of the romaine. My ozzy eats, collard and mustard greens, with some green beans, butternut squash, and his favorite is cantalope, he just loves the stuff. He will always pick out the cantalope first. Hes not real crazy about other fruits. I mix in some other veggies sometimes, depends on what looks good in the produce section at the store, but the biggest part of his deit allways comes from his greens. Hope that helps.
