not eating

drako32186 May 31, 2003 01:03 AM

I bought three leos on may 18. Two are doing quite well. The other, I'm a bit worried about. It's healthy and all. But I've never seen it eat on its' own. I've seen both of the others eat. I've tried putting it in the bowl, so that it might realize that there's food in it, but it doesn't seem interested. I've fed it with hemostats a few times, because I really want it to live. But even if i put it in a separate container to eat, it won't. I reall don't know if it does eat when I don't look or what, but it's alot smaller than the others are. Any info or advice would greatly help. I like the little fellow and I'd like to keep her around for quite awhile.

Thanks

-Drako

Do you keep all of your gex in the same enclosure? If so, I would advise separating the smaller one from the others so that you can have a better idea of who is eating what. What are you feeding her? You mentioned putting food in a bowl, so I am thinking whatever the food is isn't alive and kicking. Most leopard geckos are kind of like the T-rex in Jurassic Park: if they can't see their food while it is moving (live crickets, mealworms, wax worms, etc.), they don't realize it's food.

I feed them all live meal worms...I assure you, it's live food.

Seperate her from the others, so you can keep a close eye on him. Are his stools runny? How active is he? You said he seems healthy, so he may just be getting used to his new home. It also sounds like he may be getting a little bullied by the others, so give him his own cage for a while and see if anything improves.
