Condensation on tank, good or bad?

tanmuscles Nov 12, 2003 05:19 PM

I just recently moved my 17 inch bosc into a 80 gallong tank while i complete his cage. In the old temporary one, i had sand (which i know isn't "natural". In this one, I put about a foot of dirt for him to play around in. He hasn't dug any burrows yet, but seems to like throwing it around. The only problem is that every day, there is a ton of condensation forming on the sides of the tank. This is not just a little mist, but big droplets, so much that it is difficult to see inside. Does that mean that it is too humid? I know that since they are not desert dwellers that they need a little bit of humidity, but i just want to make sure that he's not getting too much. The temperatures are ok. I think i'll look into getting a humidity gage so i can check what % it is. Thanks.

beware of mold

some humidity is good, too much and you will get the perfect breeding grounds for bacteria and mold. not good. try aerating the cage more.
