new dragons waveing

lizardchild Nov 12, 2003 06:26 PM

I'm new to keeping bearded dragons and have a question. I purchased 2 snow dragons a few months ago. The sexes were not known but were sold as a possible pair. A few days ago they both started this weird arm waveing thing. They
both became very agressive towards each other and I had to seperate them. What is going on?

it is generally a submissive behaviour

Thanks. I read the article from the web site
you gave but it didn't say if a certain sex does this. Do females do this more? Both my dragons are the same size (about 4" svl). I'll
check other sites to get more details.

Males will usually do a faster, more aggressive head bobbing and waving (almost stomping). Females usually do a slower push-up style head bobbing and slow arm waving which is a signal of submissiveness.

Females will sometimes be agressive towards each other to establish dominance and will sometimes even fight w/males. Often, they'll puff their beard out and flatten/widen their body to show their size.
