how many in an 80 gallon?

tanmuscles Nov 12, 2003 11:10 PM

Hey everybody, I'm a regular at the monitor forum, but pretty new over here. I was just wondering about a cage that i currently have my sav, porker, in. After he outgrows it, i think i'd like to get some beardeds. How many i could keep reasonably in an 80 gallon aquarium?

Thanx,
Scott

I would say one adult only. Possibly two, if they are females and get along well. Not all do, though, so beardies generally do best on their own. As far as I know, the general "rule" is that one adult beardie should have at least a 50 gallon enclosure.

depending on the actual floor dimensions of the 80 gallon, you can get at least one adult dragon. Two females should be fine, depending on the total floor space. A single adult dragon should be in a 4'x2'x2' tank, though the height can be lower (18" is fine too).

I used to keep two beardies in a 55 gallon when I was in college and they never, ever fought or showed aggression towards each other. They'd lay on top of each other under the basking spot and were super laidback. I was actually thinking of turning my 75 gallon fish aquarium into a really cool habitat for two beardies. Guess my situation before was a fluke?
