Why do they do this?

Langi Nov 13, 2003 10:12 AM

Well I've had my leo about five months now and I need to know, why do they wiggle their tails before pouncing on crickets? Its so cute and funny. Mine only does it when he eats crickets, not mealworms. Is it like snakes that rattle when they're excited? Whats up with this cute action?

Hi,

I can't answer your question (it's still a mystery to me. I chalk it up to the thrill of the hunt! I wonder if the vibrating attracts or distracts the insect while the leo pounces...hmm....), but I came across this website while looking for the answer. It touches on other behavioural aspects that some might be wondering about (I know I was).

Enjoy,

DrGecko is a great website! I've checked out everything on it the last couple of days. Some great info!
