Lighting/Heating/UV Article

Charm_Paradise Nov 13, 2003 04:08 PM

Hi-

I just received the January 2004 issue of REPTILES, and there is an article with a basic overview of the different Lighting/Heating/UV products. There was no details on the UVB output of different bulbs, but offers a good explanation of the different bulb types. Just thought I would share, I know there has been allot of talk on the subject in the past.

Also in this issue there is an AWESOME vivarium photo with some steps to reproduce it.

The one with the Bonsai Ficus? Gorgeous!!!! Look great in a dart frog habitat. Definitely gave me lots of ideas. Had to run get a ficus to try it with, wish me luck. I'm sure it's much harder than the author of the article made it sound.

I also thought the article on reptile lighting could have given more specific detail about the amount of uvb produced by different bulb manufactures. Considering the article was written by the CEO of Zoo Med, may we assume he was using Zoo Med's products as reference? I was intrigued by the "UVB Meter", but have never seen one for sale, have any of you?
