Lucky me - got 3 hatchling Indians

dannygood1 Nov 13, 2003 04:32 PM

On a routine visit to my local Houston reptile store, they had a bunch of hatchling Indians, molurus molurus, that they bred. They are extremely light in color. What's nice is I got them for $99 apiece. I onced raised a hatchling Burmese for 22 years from about 22" to 16 feet. Died of old age I guess. Looks like I'm back into getting chickens and rabbits before too long....if anybody wants to see pics I just ordered yesterday a digital camera that supposed to take OK closeups, will post if anyone interested once I get camera. Regards to all molurus keepers. My old one was a fine and beloved pet.

True Indians at $99. humm sounds like you just got 3 burms to me. Indians are worth a lot of money and are very rare not to mention endagered. If u got them lucky u. But it sounds like u just 3 very nice looking burmese pythons.

No, they're Indians. They are real light in color (both blotches and background); 7th supralabial touches
the eye; no subocular scale. I'll post a picture when I get my camera. Yeah, it was such a good deal I ended up buying
three of them (not sure that was wise...how many rats/rabbits am I gonna have to go thru?....). All 3 are eating like pigs. They are so different looking that as soon as I saw them in the aquarium, I knew they were Indians. Almost no dark borders around blotches anywhere. Very incomplete arrow on head. I've been keeping reptiles for 35 years and have never seen one for sale in the state I was living in (one needs a U.S. Wildlife permit to buy one from out of state). I once raised a Burmese from a hatchling to 16', 22 years, died of old age I guess. Was a buddy and pal (as far as snakes go). I just hate feeding the damn things; wish they would eat pizza.
