2 Nile Croc's

Hilo Nov 13, 2003 05:44 PM

I just picked up two Nile croc hatchlings( little over 8" ). They are being housed in a 90 gallon tank for now. This is the first time I have had 2 together and have a few questions. One is vary aggressive toward the other even at this small size, what can be done? Should I separate them till they grow larger and transfer them in to a newer and larger enclosure at a later time? Is it possible to handle the aggressor and make him more timid? Or last, keep just one and find a new home for the other. I don't want ether to get injured I want whats best for them and me. If any one has delta with this problem and could give some advice it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Personally I am a fan of keeping crocs alone for several resons. Even a small croc can do a good amount of damage to another. My nile is I would guess close to 4 feet now. I use him in educational showing, etc but other than that I do not handle him. He is very aggressive and very fast. I feed him with tongs and he puts on quite a good show. I can only imagine what this will be like in years to come.

If you are not planning on keeping a monster for life that can and will want to kill you, and cost you tens of thousands of dollars to keep I would suggest you give them both up.
