Bad/Good News about the female papuan

Python_Jay Nov 13, 2003 05:45 PM

Hey,
Well after her last shed like the 2 nights b4 i posted that last message (mind you shed was perfect) since i had left her alone for 3 days without even looking at her i didnt notice untill like a day after i posted the message that she had gotten scale rot somehow i dunno if it was ebacuse th big wasnt ventilated enough and when she shed not enough of the humidity i was tryin to keep in there caused her to get it or just happened..........well shes being treated but she is so thin....so i'm hoping it'll turn around but ya never know. Well my boss called the place i got her from and told them that they better work somethin out for me because in the last 4 months 75 percent of the animals i got from them came in crap....like her and a big wild caught blood.( But it was my own fault about the blood I decided i wanted a really colorful blood and he came in crap.) But well the "snake guy" who has a collection of like 400 snakes had been helping me throught his and hes telling what to get what to do.........and they've decided that they are either gonna take her back, and exchange, credit her, or just send me a new one on the next order. I love her so much but I guess what happens happens you can't change fait. But yeah I tohught i might as well tell ya maybe someone can give me some advice er just assurance cuz last night when she got her out to treat ehr and she was reallllly bad looking i was jsut about to call up my boss and tell him to take everything cuz i didnt feel like i was good enough to keep them. But i got some sleep and i woke up to feel better.

But thanx to all who will reply

Buy CB next time...and make sure you know what you are doing husbandry wise. You need to check on your snakes daily. I am sorry you are having such a rough time...you need to keep reading, learning, and asking questions.

There are CB Paps out there but they are quickly sold. Several clutches have been hatched in recent years.
To secure them, one must have the extra cash to spring for them as soon as they are available. You may be able to get babies or maybe even pick up some older animals that someone raised up. They are around...it just takes patience.

But as I am one who has had to work with WC animals to have specimens of pythons I wish to work with, I must say one thing. Care of WC animals can be a very different bag of chips than with WC specimens. I do not know a thing of your husbandry and troubleshooting skills but you really need to have them well polished when dealing with any WC animal. Especially Paps..they come in with all sorts of bugs.
My best recommendation to you is to learn from your mishap with this particular one and be sure to be ready for any CB that pop up. I heard through the grapevine that a clutch was hatched this year somewhere in the USA. I also have a good feeling that more will be hatched next year. So save your pennies and wait for CB if Papuans are what you really wish to work with.
Good luck.
