pyro substrate question

verve Nov 13, 2003 07:37 PM

hey people!
i've got a question. i've always been using aspen as bedding for my 2 foot pyro. i've decided to switch to fine sand for that natural and realistic effect. however, before i proceed to buy the bedding, i like to know if anyone has had bad experiences with sand as a substrate. anyway, my snakes are all fed outside their enclosures on newspaper, so injestion of during feeding is not going to be a problem.thanks.

Scroll down a bits and there's a post about calci-sand posted on Nov. 4. Hope this answers some of your questions.

I used silica sand with 6 snakes for the first year and never had a problem. I now use carefresh. Its more money but for me its much easier and more sanitary.
