Hey cool photo!

I'm getting a pair of these tomorrow, can't wait! They are absolutely gorgeous frogs.

You got any tips that you may be able to share Kristen? I know the general set up and requirements, but any little extras (what is their behaviour like?) I would be really grateful for. Expensive guys as well, but well worth it I'm sure!

Good luck with them!

Hey Rob,

I just got my milk frogs, so I don;t have all that much insite yet! But I have read alot about these guys before I got them. I keep mine at 80, with high humidity. And since they are just babies I keep mine in a smaller container where they can find food and wont get too stressed out. These guys love to eat!!! And are very quick so be careful with them cause they will jump out of you hand across the room before you know it! I have pothos plants in with my guys and they seem to like hiding and jumping on the leaves. I find my frogs active during the ngiht mostly but also during the day. Hope this helps.

Thanks to everyone who look at the picture

Thanks Kirsten.

Just got mine last night, both subadults, and the male is already developing gis nuptial pads. The female is around 3 and a half inches long! So quite big, and very stocky as you've noticed. They seem very tame as well, ie they won't leap a way when I open the cage and the female has already fed.

Absolute stunners! Have you noticed the green toe pads and the light blue chin? Very pleased with them and hopefully may end up breeding.

p.s. they breed in tree hollows in the wild, right up in the canopy, so apparently a tube of cork bark placed in a water bowl makes them feel at home and simulates this.

Good luck, and thank you!

Hey Rob,

Mine are just babies so they are about as big as a quarter if that! The babies are so blue under their legs, chin, and stomach! And thanks for the breeding tips, I actually have a great article from Reptile Mag, about the first time they were ever bred in captivity!

Hi Kristen,
Oh great! Was that correct then (what I said)? If you could maybe tell me how they did it I'd be really grateful! I cannot find that magazine anywhere (I know the one you mean)and would love to breed these guys, the male is just coming into condition now.

Thanks Kristen!

Hey Rob,
The article on breeding these guys is pretty detailed. But you have the right idea since they are tree hole laying frogs. They need to feel like they are in a tree the people who first accomplished this used a rubbermaid shoe box to simulate a tree!
And they were quite happy to lay in it.

The cork bark did the trick, found around 500-600 eggs this morning inside it after a long night of continuous calling from the male.

Great, have put them in small aquarium with temps at 80F. Fingers crossed!!!

Kristen, could you please give me the reference to the magazine, as I really need some info on raising the tads, the eggs seem fine but I need to be fully prepared. Thank you very much in advance!!!

I think this is the first time that this species has been bred in Britain, so I'm pretty excited!

Thank you very much Kristen,

Unfortunately I think the male was too young (hence it was such a surprise that they laid) and they are starting to look infertile. No worries though since I have a good idea what to do now and can hopefully try again when he's a bit older. He called all of last night as well lol, so he must be ready.

They are just in they're regular cage with me, but I think the person before me had them relatively dryer, so the temp and humidity change must have been the stimulant. The humidity approaches 90% at night, and the temps were at around 75F (need to get it a bit warmer really) but they still didn't mind, and it shows they've settled in well!

Thanks again Kristen (and thanks for the offer) Now I have a bit more time I'll try and send off for that mag article.
