you just need to hold it more often. if you get bitten it will just be like a paper cut.

The new corn that we got was that way. He is always in a hurry to GO! He did not like to be picked up at all, After 6 days, he was much better. He did bite my sister. She complained about it, but it did not hurt. Now this is a small snake. 14 inches. I do not know about the bigger ones. Also this snake shed about a week later. I do not know if shedding makes them more skittish.

Don't worry about it. If it is a new/young snake it is just getting used to you. I don't know about the paper cut thing. My new corn bit me a few times and I didn't even feel it. It does startle you at first but it is no big deal.

Young corns are almost always jumpy. After some time they will mellow out.Getting bit from a small corn is like a small pinprick,if there even lucky enough to latched on.I have a 19 inch hypo that still tries to bite when i reach in to pick her up but once she is out she is one of my most docile to hold....Paul.

If you just got the snake, I would leave it alone for a few days to a week before picking it up. They can be skittish and nervous when in their new home for awhile. However, after the initial time to let it settle in, it will get used to handling pretty quick. When you pick them up, gently pick them up away from their heads, as most snakes are head shy. Mine tries to move away when I pick him up but once he is in my hands, he calms down quickly and starts exploring my hands, arms, body and anything else it can get to without falling.
