Is My Cham. Over Reacting Or Did I Really Mess Up?

SaveFerris Nov 13, 2003 08:26 PM

Ok I just added a few big branches in her cage and she got big DARK black stripes and spots and is now pacing the bottom of the cage.

Is she just overreacting and she'll get used to it or is it REALLY a big deal to add a few sticks?

can this make her sick?

First of all, let me say that chams don't like change. Even the smallest change like the one you made can make a difference. If you would not have added anything to her cage, but simply moved it to a different place, she may very well have had the same reaction. Most veiled chams turn dark and go off feed for a day or two when stressed. Are you sure that she's not got eggs? How old is she? If she stops eating and starts clawing at her cage, then I'd be thinking that she may have eggs in her even if she has never mated. If she doesn't start acting normal again within a day or two, then there is a possibility that she may have something else wrong altogether. Keep an eye on her & keep us posted. Meanwhile, You may want to start looking for a good herp vet in your area. Even if you don't need one now, you'll know where to go when the time comes.

Shes been normal in every way since this. I put the branches in because shes been climbing on the top of her cage and screen alot, so i put more paths around the sides and top.

As im writing this she climbed back to a mid level in her cage but shes sulking and has lots of dark colors.

women! lol

Well, since i changed everything shes been climbing around pretty good. She still is showing some black stress spots that come and go (only used to once in awhile before change)

She will actually turn a nice light green color when i come over and talk to her. strange.

On a side note, she also started shedding today and did a very cute thing. She scratched her head with her back leg like a dog. LOL

wait till i get my camera
