Vision Cage for PTS?

Tristan Nov 13, 2003 08:26 PM

I was wondering if a vision cage would be suitable for a PTS. If so, how many can fit in there? The dimensions are 4ft long, 28 inches tall and 28 inches deep. Would ventilation be a problem? I realize that it would be better if it was 4 ft. tall instead of 4ft. long, but I was just wondering if anyone has had any experiences with these cages and PTS. Thanks in advance,
Tristan

I just didn't want to make clear that
PTS=prehensile tailed skinks (not Pink tongued skinks)
thanks

Hello,

The general guideline used for Hemisphaerodon gerrardi abbr. is PkTS to avoid confusion with PTS for Corucia. It can be nuts. Just when you get used to one way, people start using another. (ie: MTS instead of PTS)

Thanks for the info Brian, but can you give me some advice on my original post regarding vision cages for PkTS?
I am considering a 4ft long, 24 inches deep and 24 inches tall vision cage for PkTS. If this is okay, how many do you think can live in there? (comfortably of course)
Thanks,
Tristan

Yes, Being this is a Semi-Arborial species which readily takes to bushes and low branches of trees, A little higher would be better.

as is the only thing I would use a cage of that dimension would be a temporary quarantine cage or 'hospital' cage. It is nice and long, but way too short and not very wide. If you turn it on it's side the height gets better, but there will be very little room for shelves and climbing objects of good size. So in answer to the question, zero PTS would be appropriate for that cage. Nice for a single BTS though! I would build your own cage, or enlist the help of a inclinded friend(s) if you are not the 'handy-person/do it yourself' type. I have really never seen something I would like to house a PTS in that was not home or custom built.
good luck, jess b

If you could turn it on it's side so that it was 4 feet tall, you'd be fine, but they're very arboreal lizards.
