feeding

khalliaar Nov 13, 2003 08:54 PM

I was wondering how I would tell when to start stepping up the feedings. I am feeding my 5 and a half month old, 22 inch long, 190 gram Bp one adult mouse about every 6 days. I have a digital scale and I would like to know, if possible, how many grams the prey should be. After giving him the adult he seems hungry about 3 days later. I only have access to fuzzy, hopper and adult mice. I cannot get rats and I would prefer not to feed the chicks and rabbits which the pet store I do buisness with also sells. Thanks a lot.

When I move out, which will be in a year. Or more likely when my boyfriend moves out, which will be in about 6 months, I will begin to breed rats at his house. I have planned out how I'm going to do this so that I do not have to many rats and I have researched how to breed them safely.

If you can only do mice, you are going to have to start feeding multiple mice. I have had my four and a half month old BP on rats since the 2nd feeding, and he is at 425g as of last night. That's the big difference between mice and rats. I was feeding him 50-60 gram prey items when he was in the 190 g range. I usually feed my snakes a prey item that is somewhere between 15% and 40% of their body weight.

thanks. I'll start feeding him about 2 adults or more until I can get my breeding rats up.
