Red tegu housing

hi.im new to this forum(im normally on the leo,gecko,or bearded dragon forum.the local reptile shop has a real nice red tegu for sale its about 10 inches.will it be able to live in a 40 gallon breeder tank for a while????also ive already read abunch of care sheets but what size mice are good for it for a while???and whats a good substrate i could use?????any other tips would be great

I havre a blue and she is in a 20 long right now and she is about the same size as the red you are talking about. and she seems very happy with her little home. I am building a bigger home for her though. I have fed mine pinky mice and she does well, I also feed ground turky and poached egg she eats all well and is getting very fat and growing like a weed.
