Hello all,
Just wondering how any of you who own Vision cages heat them? I have the largest one they make and I'd like to know what approaches others are taking to heating the cages.
Any info is appreciated,
Thanks,
- Mark

I own two Vision cages, model# 422 and a glass tank. On one, I use an infrared heat lamp...on the other I just recently started using a heat mat with a rheostat attached. And on the glass tank, I use a ceramic heat emitter. I wanted to try the heat mat to compare its effectiveness as compared to the heat lamps. Honestly, I prefer the heat lamps because they disburse the heat better. The heat mats or UTH's give off localized heat and a few inches away from it stays cold. If using a heat lamp the key is to leave the water bowl close to the heat to keep humidity up. Good luck.
Thanks,
I'll give that a try tonight (the ceramic heat emitter).

One problem I have noticed with using a heat lamp is that it is harder to maintain temps and a proper light cycle. Especially if you are planning to breed this can make it harder to properly do a temp drop. Just my .02, Todd
I am sorry I forget to give you my recommendation. I would go with a radient heat panel that mounts to either the back of the cage or the top of it. Put the panel on a thermostat and you can control the temps and maintain the night drop temps as well as a cooling period prior to breeding. Use flourescent lighting for light since they emit no heat it will not effect the heat of the cage. Sorry again about the forgetfullness, Todd
