Cyclemys dentata?

yertelle Nov 14, 2003 12:32 PM

anyone know for sure? i got him from a petstore as a wood turtle but i dont think he is. his plastron has more of a wood grain pattern than any wood turtle ive seen. he's about 8-9 inches and i think full grown.
the place that i got him from didnt really have anywhwere for thier turtles to bask and only one could get out at a time. i think there is something funny goign on with his shell. shell rot maybe? one of his scutes on his carapace is kind of peeling and its white underneath. also there is a spot on his plastron where its compeltly white with a small bumpy blackish spot. no where on his shell is soft however. any ideas on how to help him?
i feed him lots of fruit, reptomin, and occasional worms and crickets. does this sound about right? what should the land to water ratio be in his tank?
thanks alot, i hope im in the right place. all ive kept before were RES and although i love looking at everything i can online, theres not much on leaf turtles(if thats what he is?)that i can find and i dont ahve a lot of practical experience

It is definitely a cyclemys. Unfortunately, the taxonomy of that genus is a bit of a mess.

There is a care sheet at the World Chelonian Trust website as well as multitudes of pictures. The care sheet link is below or go directly to the World Chelonian Trust website via the hyperlink.
