update on "new to handling" post

SittonJ Nov 14, 2003 01:10 PM

Yeah! I'm very excited because of geckogirlsmom's advice down the way about using the back of your hand instead of the palm to try and encourage my leo to climb on it. I tried it and it worked! Actually I also put a mealie on the back of my hand and that encouraged her to climb right on up and eat it. She didn't bite me either I was able to coax her up several times this way and I think it's really starting to help me form a bond with her and show Sadie that I'm not gonna eat her and in fact I give her food and lovin. So just wanted to let you know it's going great so far after all the wonderful advice you guys gave me!

Congrats and keep up the good work! I think you and Sadie are going to become quite the pair. Do you have any pictures of her you can post?

That is great news! That has really worked for us. They seem to realize instinctively (and correctly) that your hand is less threatening face down.
