3 month old cricket free beardie not eating...

smurfskill Nov 14, 2003 03:46 PM

I just got him 3 days ago, when I got him he was real plump, now he's getting thinner, he doesn't eat much, only nibbles, what can I do to get him to eat more? Right now I have collards, mustards, and pellets, should i make the leaves even smaller than they are now? He's not eating much and I don't know what else to do.

Who did you get him from? They are for sure crix free babies?

I cut the greens up to about dime sized and sprinkle the moist pellets on top of them. You could try dropping a few moist pellets onto his basking site also.

Sometimes it takes them a few days... even as long as a week sometimes to settle in to their new homes.

Sometimes they do stress a bit in the change and take a week ti adjust, I have two from Joel, one did really well with the change and the other decided I was gonna cook him or something for a week and went on a diet to discourage me. Finally he settled in and decided maybe I was not so dangerous since the other dragons seemed to like me okay and eat the food I brought, so he is back up to a plump little fatty again.

Make the greens about 1/4 inch wide and if you have a food processer shop up the veggies fine and sprinkle the mosit pellets on top...... Leave him alone as much as possible to adjust with less stress........ and if all else fails Give him crickets!!

LOL sorry, could not resist, you can also try dropping a pellet at a time in front of him or rolling them across the enclosure to get his attention.

about 10 minutes ago, I just put down some "salad" and moist pellets on top, he ate 1 leaf, and 3 pellets. I would imagine he should have more, but at least he's eating something...
