HELP NOW TOE NAIL FALLING OFF FOR LEO!!!

leofreak Nov 14, 2003 04:24 PM

My leo was on his log then i took him off then he started bleeding. I saw his toe nail is hanging by like a little skin should i take it off or should i leave it on? I'm going to put paper towel in his tank. Should i put neosporin on it? PLEASE HELP!

If it looks like there is no chance of it healing, I would CAREFULLY remove it. Never experienced this though. Be sure to take him off of any substrate other than paper towels, and clean (with water) and apply neosporin at least once a day. Now, remember, I am no expert, and I am certainly not a vet, but this is what we would do. Hope this helps

I've never had to deal with that before, but I wouldn't try to remove the nail if I were you. If you can prevent it from getting infected, it should be able to fall off by itself without any problems if it can't heal back on. It looks like you've done a good job of keeping it clean, so just keep doing what you're doing.
