I was told by an exotic vet to feed him pumpkin to make him go. He won't eat it nor will he eat any vegetable. I purchased vitamins (acidophilus) drops and drip them on his nose. He eats canned crickets, mealworms and can o pillars which he loves... His tummy is quite big.....He is active and alert... Help!!

How old is he? If he is a baby don't feed mealworms. They can't digest the hard exoskeleton (outer part). Try putting him in lukewarm water up to his shoulders for about 15 minutes. Don't leave him alone (he can drown). Usually when they are in water they go. If he is a juvi or an adult he needs to eat greens every day. If he is a baby, offer these to him and he will start to eat them soon. I'm new at this too but I have read a lot about BD on this site so do a search or look on the tip sheet.
good luck

thanks Aimee for the info. He is an adult and a big one at that. We have had him for over a year - 'he' could be a 'she' though - I just learned if one looks under the tail they may be able to tell the sex. I will give "Dino" a bath in warm water- good idea, and I also raised the temp in the cage - I went into a great site and it said his 'stoppedupness' may be from temp change in the cage.... Thanks again Aimee - they are a great pet. Have fun with your's!! `~kim

Try Mineral Oil, if he doesn't eat vegetables, put some of it on his nose and he'll lick it. It always works for me.

Yes, do the bath first. He can stay in the water for longer than 15 minutes, if needed. Just make sure the water stays warm. Test the water as you would feeding babies... it should feel not too hot nor too cold to the under side of your wrist.

If the bath does not work, try a couple drops of mineral oil.

Good luck!
