ground skink

bradarmstrong Nov 14, 2003 05:00 PM

I was walking to class today and I saw a skink. I have no former knowledge of skinks, but I did want to identify it, and I was interested whether it was someones pet or if it was native to southern california.

I did some looking, and this is the skink I saw http://www.biology.wustl.edu/tyson/faunareptgrsk.html . From what I read its native area is mostly east north america, maybe texas. But I am in LA. Any thoughts on why it was here?

well these skinks can live in pretty cool weather so that is probaly why.and from waht Ive seen they are usually the last lizard to hibernate and the first to come out in spring.
