survey: how affectionate are u with your dragons???

lanietx Nov 14, 2003 08:58 PM

ok, i know it sounds like a weird question......
but i am serious!

i have one bearded dragon. her name is sydney, she is almost a year old. to make a long story short..... i think she hung the moon! LOL maybe i just have no life.

anyway...
i am curious to know how other owners interact with their dragons.

sydney and i have our "one on one" time daily. she likes to cuddle up with me in our favorite blanket. she also likes me to pick her up and talk to her.

one other issue......
anyone else here give their dragons kisses?

Only if I'm anxious to be bitten on the nose.... Sammy T. has a lot of 'personality'...

Peter: It's OK, I'll handle it. I read a book about something like this.
Brian: Are you sure it was a book? Are you sure it wasn't NOTHING?

barbie doll canopy bed that I have been looking for. It's for CC to sleep in that will fit perfect into the bedroom of her new house.

Don't you think the color will go well with her?

But the I have to find one that will match the gold on Sandy too... she is very sensitive to others getting more than her

My son has had a BD for four months now and I have totally fallen in love with this creature. Normally, I am a dog person and have never owned a reptile before. Since Loki has come to our house I have taken over his care (sorry, couldn't help it). My son thinks Loke is really his, but we both know that I am the one who takes care of him and I have gone crazy for him... He reminds me of Kermit the Frog the way he looks at me I just melt..
Glad to hear I'm not the only one has fallen for one of these beautiful animals. My friends think I am nuts the way I melt when I talk about him. They just can't see it. Oh well, they will just have to get used to it...

to me dragons are kinda like the "puppy dog" of the reptile world.

>>My wife will give our beardies little "pecks".
We both talk to them when we feed them or handle them.
They just have too great of personalities not to ineract with them.
The only other reptile I have ever had, that I can interact with is my Red-Foot Tortoise. He will follow me around the yard...LOL
My snakes and aquatic turtles just don't have the personalies of the beardies.

"You're my little Fluffy One" (like the commercial) to one of my beardies.
And I've had to endure my son telling everyone.

Ive got l0 critters, beardys, a rankin, leopard geckos, crested geckos, gargoyle gecko, texas collared lizard .

I have one leo in particular that is a doll! and love to come out and hang out and run around on my hands and yes she gets kisses too....

Daniel my texas collared lizard has a similarly friendly personality as the beardies but they tend to want to climb to the top of your head to hang out and then they kinda stay put, but they are cute personalities.....

My dragons are by far the dogs of the reptile world as a matter of fact my hubby refers to them as the "dawgs" and is frequently found on the recliner couch with Dakota or esp. Delilah.......

I love the cute looks and how they work to get your attention and then how mellow they are when the come out "most of the time, sometimes they just wanna explore a bit" but the fact their size is so great, you can kinda let them do that supervised....but I am careful, would hate for her to get stuck somewhere or lost..........

the beardie smile is so awesome, second would have to be a crested gecko smile then a leopard gecko smile....

yes most of my friends,co workers think that i must have a screw loose...im a hospital staff nurse..........and a mom of 2.

I gush over pics of my "babies" as well as my own kids....at one time I brought a small album of my critters and had only one or two of my kids in the whole thing!

My kids also love the critters, my teen dtr feels the same as me, but being the adult I tend to take a major role in the care of them.

ok, so ive rambled on..........sorry about that..........

at times sydney likes to be scratched at those places.
then all of a sudden she will act like it tickles or something. she will squirm and wiggle and start going in reverse

2 things that sydney does that i just love......

the way she cocks her head to the side when i talk to her.

another thing....
she will scratch and scratch wanting out of her cage. i will take her out of the cage and sit her on the floor. then she will run right over to her cage and scratch wanting to get back in.

ok...
maybe 3 things (i thought of one more)
when we have our "syd and mom" time, we sit in the recliner with our favorite blanket. sydney likes to crawl under the blanket and root around. at times she will go in circles then finally poke her head out from under the blanket and look at me. she can be so silly!

there are times that sydney will get into an obsessive digging mood. i have her on sand. she will dig all the sand from one area. of course it builds up somewhere else, then she will go to the new pile and dig. this can go on and on and on!

does anyone else's dragon do this?
