"sunken" or starting to shivel eggs....

Magnum May 31, 2003 11:58 AM

one of my mali's has laid her first clutch of 8 (soo happy) and now I'm incubating at around 90 F and humidity around 72%. Some of the eggs are starting to sink in places....and some of them have a yellow look to them in the "sunken" parts. the other portion of the egg is white now....some look better than others. What should I do to reverse this "sinking" or is this normal? I tried to raise the humidity...but I know that it's better to be too dry that too wet. Please help, Thanks.

i recently spoke to lindsay pike of urotopia in depth about uros. he is very very resourceful, breeds oodles of different types of uros. i'm not sure about hte discoloration, but he showed some slides and pointed out that a bit of sinking is definitely normal on the eggs, especially, if memory serves me correctly, when they are getting closer to hatching.

The same thing happened to me and i sprayed the top of the deli cup lids. After daily sprayings of the deli cup lids the eggs became white and plump again. It usually takes about 2-3 days. I am not sure if the extra humidity i added hurt the eggs, but i only see positive results from adding the daily sprayings until they get plump again. I STRESS that i am not sure if i helped the eggs out but the dents went away and they turned white again.
