male and female leopard together?

rauko Nov 15, 2003 01:43 AM

I've had a female leopard gecko for about 2 1/2 years and she's doing great. Today I was given two new lizards, another leopard gecko and a day gecko (who apparently were living in the same small tank together for 8 years). Obviously I'm separating these two lizards and the day gecko will be going in his own tank, but will my male and female geckos be alright together? My female is housed in a 20L tank (30" x 12". Is this big enough for the two? They are about the same size, but is the age difference going to be an issue? I'm picking up the other geckos tomorrow night, so i guess most of this i'll find out pretty quick. I do have an extra 10gal tank if i need to separate them, but I don't really have anywhere to set it up. Any advice or experience is greatly appreciated!

as long as the female is around the same size as the male, everything should be fine. Good luck with your new ones.

Maybe everything should be fine, but what about quarantining the new gecko? Especially if the person who was keeping it before kept it with a day gecko (what were they thinking????) in a small enclosure. I really wouldn't put your 2 1/2-year-old gecko at stake here... quarantine and get fecals on this new one, and good luck.

Hi

If you're getting more leos and want to house them all together... they should have a larger tank. How many leos are you getting? 2 or 3? maybe you should put the leos in the bigger one so they have more room...but, you have to quarantine all your new leos and get a fecal done to make sure they're healthy because if they have any diseases or bacteria, it'll transfer over to the leo you already have~
