Pictus Gecko Egg Fertility

blazeyoungblood Nov 15, 2003 11:54 AM

My female Pictus just laid her first clutch, it is a single egg. I wanted to know how I can determine the fertility of the egg, is it similar to a leopard gecko egg? Right now it does glow yellow when candled, and no visible red dot or embryo can be seen inside. I do have it in the incubator just in case, but if someone can help me out or give me a giid internet reference, that would be great. Thanks!

Pictus eggs do get dark as they develop as any other geckos. They are yellow in the first few weeks, then a redish color, and then the dark color. A way to tell that they are about to hatch is...The whiteness of the egg on the outside will become kind of dark in come spots and lighter in others. It is easier to see than to describe. Hope this helps. Leland(Doc)Ward-D>W.Geckos
