what is the poop supposed to look like?

chipstahoy Nov 15, 2003 12:16 PM

sometimes my geckos poop out more solid brown stuff with white stuff, and sometimes it seems more liquidy and it leaves a brown stain on the paper towel around the poop, and the poop seems more mashed into the paper towel. is this normal? also, my new leo pooped out these big pill-looking poops when i first got him...they looked kinda light brownish, like sand maybe...? but his is normal now. thanks

hi chip
it should be more solid brown (poop) and the solid white (urate). when it's still solid with a liquid gel cap and leaves a stain on the paper towel, that means he's well hydrated and drank a lot of water if it's MASHED... then i dont know- maybe he stepped on it? hehe~ if the poop comes out solid and straight, he's fine. if it comes out all broken up and separated or is pure liquid, then something's wrong - but your leo sounds like he's healthy the 1st time you got him & he had big pill-looking poop that was light brown, he probably shed and then ate a bunch of food before you took him home but your leo sounds fine good job ^_^ hehe
