51 days...and todays the day....

LzrdLady Nov 15, 2003 03:21 PM

I came home from my class today to find the end of an egg slit and fluid coming out.

I knew it would happen very soon, because the egg colapsed yesterday, and as history tells me, 24 hours later the egg SHOULD hatch...

My HY female just laid her 5th clutch yesterday...she's been a little busy. The mortality rate has been high though...it's been very sad for me...

1st clutch - two laid, both infertile
2nd clutch - two laid, one fertile=live birth
3rd clutch - two laid, one fertile (lost because cats knocked over the incubator while I was at work)
4th clutch - two laid, one fertile, hatching today
5th clutch - two laid, looks like both are fertile...already see red veins...

How long after the eggs are laid should you be able to see the veins and know for sure it is fertile? One of my females laid a single egg today, but doesn't appear to be fertile... The one who laid it hasn't eaten much last couple of weeks - she is unhappy about some gecko-pairing-rearrangements I have made :< I wasn't expecting her to put out any eggs already.
