Bubbles out nose of python, still wont eat

homeslice Nov 15, 2003 03:57 PM

I made 2 posts about a week ago about how my snake got bit by a rat and wont eat now. Today i spotted a bubble coming from his nose. He still wont eat. He wotn eat a rat or rabbit so i tried a duck. He wont eat the duck either.
Any advise? Recently sometimes he will open his mouth all the way and make a nose like a soda bottle opening. Kind of like a hiss but louder. Hes also been rubbing the tip of his face against parts of his cage today. Kind of like when a snake begins to shed but hes not beginning to shed.

Sounds like RI, but since it was bitten by a rat, could possibly be something else hiding as well. Raise the temps for sure, give him plenty of water, etc. (kinda like nursing a cold) You may need antibiotics to help him out, so go to the vet. Hope he gets better and eats soon.

From now on, kill rates first by putting them in a jar. It's
not that painful to the rat and a dead rat will never bite your snake. There's absolutely no sense in feeding live rats. Plus, your snake may end up a little tamer with a reduced feeding response if you feed dead rats.
