My first one stayed in the hide for 2 days and thn started eating and coming out. The new ones I got today aren't shy at all, they come right up to the glass when we are there. As for "taming" just hold it and play with it. Good luck with your new gecko eric!!!

i would ive the gecko a few days to settle in before handling it. once settled in generally if they are young taming is very easy, just try and handle them gently on a somewhat normal basis but remember you can over handle the animal too , alot of times too much handling can cause stress which can manifest in different ways, dropping tail, lacking in appitite, agressive bhavior, pooping or peeing, shy behavior (some are just shy but others can get shy if overhandled) just come to some sorta happy medium, generally you gecko will let you know when it has had enough for the day

When you bring them home, they are usually stressed... so just leave them alone for 2 or 3 days... a few geckos won't calm down for up to a week... but maybe 3 days average is fine.

As for taming, get your leo accustomed to your hand being in their tank. Hold your hand out flat for a while, then go ahead and just put food in... do that for a few days, and when your leo starts walkin around, put your hand in flat and he'll come over to try and see what it is. He'll probably walk over and lick you before making any moves. After a while, he'll just start walking on your hand. Also, if they're trying to climb the glass, you can just lift him up from under the shoulders, but bring him flat on your hand fast so he has support under his feet & won't be scared. Handle for 15 mins at a time for a couple weeks... then it should be smooth sailing from there. Whenever your hand goes in, he'll wanna come up & hang out with you

Good luck & Take Care!
