Great job for asking. I'm sick of people coming here and saying "I bought my male beardie a friend because he was lonely and they keep fighting, what should I do?" or something dumb like that. They're loners in the wild, and don't do well together at all. The only case where they'll get along is a rare female-female combination --- even then with two females its not guarunteed.

so leave their clutch and are fine in new homes and enviroments when their needs are met, but there are a few that seem to stress being alone and we have at times placed another dragon side by side with their enclosure to get them relaxing and eating again.

But.... as adult they are solitary animals for the most part and males are very territorial and dominant, they need to be separated from other. A male may be content with a female in with him, but the females usually is not and its too taxing on her, unless she is dominate and beats the male!

Some females will also try to dominate one another and compete for food. When I once housed 2 female beardies together, I provided 3 different food bowls, but they never stopped competing for food. I ended up seperating them because the bigger one (by 1 inch) keep shoving the smaller one off basking spots and bullying her.

I may just be lucky but, I have 1.2.0 in the same 100 gallon tank lots of basking room and places to hide always more then enough room, they get along great. However one female tents to run fast as she can at the others, stop about an inch from them then lick them. only does this once and a while its kinda funny, AND no its not aggression! theyve been together six months no problems

we have 3 that do great together, but we also have one that has to be alone. She's not mean or biting at them, she just kind of occupies more than her share of space. She was alone for 2 years and very spoiled. The other's came later and we spent time AFTER quarantine letting them swim and play together in an enviroment outside their enclosures. Then moved them all into a new, big enclosure together, each with her old basking rock or cave, plus a new sandbox to play in. They all loved it and have been together for a year now with no problems.
