Can I use a substrate heater with news paper???

I just bought an exo terra heatwave substrate heater and need to know if they can be used with news paper. I plan on using it in my boa tank but I want to use newspaper for easy cleaning.
any help or recomendations would be great.

Yes. BUT! don't allow direct contact with newspaper, and use a thermostate or rheostat.
