I'd like to hear how you attached the glass and what kind of track you used.
Also, how is the cage ventilated.
I've not built any cages where the glass doors were that much taller than they were wide. Are there any problems associated with this? I think the rule of thumb is to limit the height to twice the width but I've not had to approach that.
Lastly, what did you seal the wood with? Your normal marine enamel?

>The glass is attached with standard glass/mirror clips ( metal 1/4" standoffs )the glass covers all the way down to about a 1" off the floor and the same in eac corner this keeps the Argus who LOVE to dig as thats what they do 80% of the time in captivity from digging the wood of the cage into shreds.
The Argus that now resides here is about 4 ft long head to tail
Also, how is the cage ventilated.
>Ventilation is via the top is made w/ a 1/2 open section covered in 1/2" hardware cloth

>The doors are mounted in a commercial aluminum door standards ( its a double U channel top and a double beaded bottom in which the glass doors ride in a "H" channel. The"H" channel has two slip in Metal bearing rollers much like the wheel of a train there cupped to assure they ride firmly on the Bead guid of the bottom rail.As far as any problems in operation other then the doors weighing about 50-60lbs each they can still be opened with one finger (a real plus in my book lol )The rule as you stated is IMO 50% correct but thats depending on the door track. This track i use is by far not as cheap as using the normal Plastic Track offered by many and is costly but IMOwell worth its weight in gold the track used is about $12.00 per LF ( it has 3 pcs to it )

>The wood is a Baltic Birch , i used a very AWSOME new product its a "Plastisized sealer" its like a oil based sealer for woods but its made up of a 4 part mixture .This is a cataylist based product and dries incredibly fast. After applying the sealer to the wood i then applied 3 coats of "Natural" stain to it . Then sprayed 3 coats of a cataylist finish to it for a rock hard finish.
The total costs of this unit was $1,350.00
as a breakdown of costs it was about 20% wood costs and 80% glass all glass is 1/4 tempered which is all i use for cages no matter what the size .. its more upfront cost in the begining but never have to worry about breaking it and having you or the animals within cut or decapitated ...
I also it cant be seen in the pics there are to super misting heads attached to the cage and the water supply is fed from overhead and tied into the building water lines. The heads are thesame ones you see in the produce section in the Grocery store and give off a almost fog like mist.
Thanks for the questions and glad you all liked it .
