Ray Hine imported a wild caught Hypo a few years ago that I believe was used to create the first Hypo and Super Hypo Carrot Tails. See, when you strip the black away from a nice High Yellow and selectively breed for the orange in the tail, you're using that dominant/co-dominant hypo gene. A few of the dom/co-dom's that K&N had just weren't bred into bright yellow/orange-tailed geckos, so you get the ghosty appearance. I could be really wrong(I doubt it), but this is what I've read here and been told by some people who know. If you search the forum from this summer, Kevin (from K&N) posted some info on this project.

I bred a Super Hypo Carrot Tail Baldy to a Hypo Tangerine this year and better than 50% have turned out Super Hypo.
