Don't use calci-sand. It's NOT digestable, it has been known to cause respiatory problems in other herps, and they're inclined to eat it because of its higher calcium content, which will cause impaction.

NONE! Please follow the advise of people on this forum and breeders.. don't use sand substrate for leopard geckos! Doesn't matter what kind of sand, .. calcisand, reptisand, ground walnut shells, etc etc.. doesn't matter! Use something like ZooMed Repticarpet or paper towels.. something that the leo can't ingest... see link
Zoo Med repti carpet
Yeh i was lookin at prices today and its double waht i expected. I think ill go cage carpet route than. Just i wanted that "natural look" but really i just want a nice gecko i can watch.
on a side note ive decided to stock up on
infrared red bulbs
calcium- Herpevite w VD3
anything else i should consider with my discount thats coming up?
How old is the leo you are planning on putting on the calsi sand? I kept leos on that substrate for a couple of years without any problems at all. That does not mean there could not be problems.
I stopped using it because it is quite expensive as compared to what I currently use, which is nothing in my rubbermaid rack containers and a felt-like indoor/outdoor carpet in my display enclosures.
