something wrong??

mustang67ford Nov 16, 2003 09:11 AM

My ball for some reasonhas changed his eateng pattern since the weather started to change. He last ate almost 2 weeks ago and he has not took a crap since he ate. Is something wrong? Is he constepated? I try to feed every 7 days, but lately when I put him in his feed container, he tries to get out and just ignores the mouse. I don't know if he is blind or just does not want the mouse maybe dou to constepation. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Mike

its the weather more than likely. My friends BP goes through the same cycle (male) and he eats a mouse once a month during the winter if that. he has not lost any weight though, cuase when the weather starts to warm up he eats like a pig.

You don't mention where you are. Most likely, it's the winter change. I pretty much do not feed over the winter - snakes choice. It's the cheapest time of the year for me.

I live in Pennsylvania at the top of the Allegheny mountains so the winters here tend to be a little cold and snowy (talking feet of snow here).

Hi Mike –

If your ball python is starting a normal winter fast, as the others have suggested, you might be surprised to discover how long he can “hold on” to that last meal. Even if he defecates soon, there may be some feces left in the plumbing that he doesn’t eliminate for months. Totally normal.
