Kelly,
Great article on green anaconda husbandry and breeding in January's Reptiles magazine. I believe that is only the second article they've ran on greens since 1997. You make many interesting points, especially in regards to breeding them without a large water source. I have one question, if you don't mind, in regards to the low number of viable offspring. Do you think it possibly could have been related to the absence of a heated pond? Any new thoughts since the article?
Thanks for your time, and again great article!
Best Regards,
Shane

Shane,
Thanks for your compliment on the article. You bring up a very good point on the fertility rate we experienced with this female. I will hopefully be able to answer that question and many more here in a few weeks. We have a different female, that was bred by the same male in the article, that is gravid now. She is due to give birth soon and I expect it will happen in the next 2 to 4 weeks. She is about the same size as the previous female, but is more swollen and has lost more weight than the first female. She is also an incredibly docile anaconda. She was bred under the exact same conditions as the previous female. It will be interesting to compare the data between the two. I will let you know how it turns out. Thanks again for the comments.

Kelly
