I use them for my anoles. they are more for a tropical species becuase they only give 3% out and its a warm heat not like normal desert lights that give off alot of heat that dries out a tank and has sort of red tint this has a bluish tint and it gives off minimul heat but the anoles love it.
A single bulb still gives of NOWHERE NEAR the amount of UVB a beardy, OR an anole requires.

More than the coils give off, heh...
Given that coils give off almost none (there is some, but ALMOST none), you might as well not have the light...
Personally, I don't believe even most flourescents give off the amount of UVB that beardies need (that is, unless the enclosure has 2, 3 or 4 of them)...

There's proof that UVB is DEFINITELY beneficial to these animals... Even Mercury Vapour bulbs don't give off anywhere near the UVB they are exposed to naturally in Australia, and have been exposed to for thousands of years of evolution... If they've been living in areas with high UVB levels, don't you think over the millennia their bodies would have adapted to take advantage of that fact?
Why even take the chance with absolutely no evidence from the people who claim they need no UVB?

cant find the link but I saw a chart that showed a rating of almost 50µW/cm2 at 12". could this be true?

Regardless of what their info says...
We've had these up on a meter against various flourescents, ZooMed MV bulbs & Big Apple Herp MV bulbs, and they were WAY lower (at any distance) than any of the other UV producing bulbs. I can't remember the exact figures, and they did produce SOME UVB, but not even as much as the cheapest flourescent.
