I got a 53 grams female... and a 36 grams male.. Are they ready to breed?

Yes, by body weight both are ready. I'd recommend housing them separately as the male is a little bit on the small side. He may go off his food to enthusiasticly pursue his stud duties. Housing him separately will give him a chance to replenish his reserves.

If they've been housed together up to this point you can leave them together and they'll breed when they're ready. In my experience males who've been housed with females don't tend to become as obsessed as males who've grown up alone and are suddenly given the opportunity to breed.

That said, I house my males with females year round. They usually stop breeding in August and don't resume until March. It may be an uphill battle getting them to breed right now.
