I want to see if I can breed and supply the pet stores in my area with rats. How do I know what to charge? What is the wholesale pricing on rats? I breed small scale now 4.5 for my 2 boas.

I was going to do the same thing you have in mind and found out a couple of things out that you might want to know before you go any further with your idea. First is will the pet stores buy your rats because the stores around the york p.a. area have their own breeders and won't even consider buying mine when I was under cutting the other breeders by 25 cents a rat.
And the second is can you produe up to 600 rats a month of all different sizes per pet store? That was the only catch in the deal I had with one and only pet store who was going to buy my rats from me. 600 a month! That's 150 a week. Remember that pinkies are not the major seller it's medium to jumbo sizes that most snake owners buy. You will need to hold onto males for 4 or more months before they are jumbo sized. Just something to think about. Why not try and sell frozen rats at your local reptile shows? You will see that they still sell there even if another vender selling the same sizes as you just change your prices to under cut them and watch the money come your way.
