if your 2 year old male hog is 4-4.5', i'd say it was fed a lot. he's an island boa that is naturally smaller than his mainland counterpart and at 2 years of age, probably should not be equal to or great than what a 2 year old mainland bci should measure. matter of fact, some hogs never reach that length. you could probably feed that animal about 18 meals a year or less and that would be sufficient for natural growth/girth/development for the rest of his life.
of course, that's just my opinion and what do i really know?

thanks for your input and i know that they are a smaller species but i am feeding it 1 jumbo mouse every 8 days and that isnt leaving much of a dent when i feed him to my friend feeding it 4 small mice every 14 days so yeah i would say it was under fed. thanks for replying tho

move up to appopriately sized rats and feed every 3-4 weeks. that would be a natural feeding regimen. trust me, if your hog is 4.5 feet right now at 2 years of age, it's been overfed.

I agree...I would try to get him eating medium sized rats, rather than the mice. That's what my 4' hoggie thrives on!

Def move up to rats..they have more nutrient value for there size as well.(from what I have been told) also as a referance for size of an adult my male is 6' and about as big around as a 20oz soda bottle. (but also the exact origin of my male is unknown, he could be an intergrade of some kind, or a mainland version of the hogg island). Good luck with your snake, and enjoy..Later Randy T.

he is barely hitting 4' and is two and a half years old he looked bigger (i keep him in a 37 inch rubbermaid) temp cage.

he is fed one f/t mouse every 7-14 days...
I believe he just passed the 3' mark..
I tend to under-feed.
